Resentment

Speaking for myself, I am not big into resentment. I spend little to no time worrying about what others have that I don't have, or how easy they have it compared to me, etc. I could, and I admit I have done so occasionally, but daily? No. It doesn't appeal to me at all.

Now, I do have many other faults and I'm not trying to be holier than thou. But it struck me today that MAGA lets itself be ruled by petty resentment against the other.
It's very powerful. And it's destructive. It's what the one percent wants more than anything. All of us resenting and hating each other so that they can swoop in scoop up all the profits of our labor and our government.

So, just a suggestion...don't resent other generations, other nationalities, other classes of people. Save your resentment for the ones that are trying to screw all of us. And use it to affect change. Again, just a humble suggestion.

It doesn't bring any loving kindness, or joy, or happiness into the world. It just creates more suffering.

"All experience is preceded by mind,
Led by mind, created by mind.

Speak or act with a contaminated mind,
And suffering follows,
As the wheel of the wagon follows the hoof of the ox.

Speak or act with a peaceful mind,
And happiness follows, like a never departing shadow."

is so true! It's a very self destructive emotion, and in some cases may even lead to voting repug!

I do resent the masses that vote for republicans and those who ignore climate change.

Plus never let hate rule my emotions.

is a patriotic act.

When they raise their politics to the level of religious righteousness, pushing your politics down the throat of others becomes an act of charity.

Moreover, they swear piety is the path to salvation, there is nothing petty about THAT.

Yes, I really do believe they took the slide down that slippery slope

REQUIRE that people give up what others might have. I am convinced that the reason there are so many religious people who are anti so many things is because Christianity requires that they give up virtually all sensual and pleasurable behaviors. They have "been forced" (by choice - at least some of them could leave their religion) to forgo the "sins of the flesh" and they HATE, HATE, HATE that people who do not believe the same way don't "have" to forgo the same things. This is part of why they hate non-restrictive sexuality and why the prosperity gospel hooks them in so effectively. The irony of "just ask and you shall be forgiven" is that not matter how much they sacrifice and "suffer" on earth to gain their earthly reward, all those people who've indulged can still get that heavenly reward by asking for forgiveness. They want to force everyone to suffer the way they do. Their BIGGEST fear is that we WON'T be "left behind" - in which case, what was their sacrifice for?

but I think you make some good points. That could explain why the fundamental Christians support someone like cheato. He hates the same people they do?

and he's a sinner but not in an open "lifestyle" kind of way. He "falls" (cheats on his wife, etc.) as they all do so he and they can be forgiven. But people who live who they are (LGBTQ, etc.) are not even trying.
