(6,793 posts)You have not been given appropriate credit for the biggest botch of a national emergency in American history. for irresponsibility that cost a million lives, and for all the lying, blaming and shirking responsibility. You should be jailed for that kind of incompetence.
He lied and lied and caused all those deaths.

(11,305 posts)we need to make sure he gets credit for ignoring the CDC, putting his worthless son-in-law in charge of funneling PPE supplies and monies into his and his cronies' pockets, trashing the Bush and Obama epidemic response plans, exposing his supporters, Secret Service agents, and others to the virus, and other actions, too numerous for me to remember.

I'm still wondering why there was a lockdown. Even though IMHO it was the correct thing to do, of course botched in the end. The Republicans wouldn't have done it initially unless they thought there was something in it for them.

(18,456 posts).... because it was politically inconvenient for you to be upright and forthcoming with the public about the ways Covid 19 was to ravage America.
You mishandled every facet of the pandemic which resulted in many many horrifically needless deaths.
Now you want people to kiss your feet.
Fuck off Orange Menace,.. get lost,.. leave us be.

(20,833 posts)for, I don't know, maybe 500,000 deaths out of over the million people who died from Covid in the US.
Great job, Donald.
Great job.

(3,088 posts)...started making all kinds of paranoid statements about the "Covid hysteria" of the "left" (gag). You know, instead of actually appearing Presidential: at least feigning concern about rising cases and hospitalizations in the last few weeks, etc.
Trump deserves little or no credit for his "handling" of Covid. From his firing of the CDC intelligence team, ignoring what little early information there was after firing said intelligence team, the discarding of the Obama-era pandemic strategy, ignoring the pandemic to suck up to Wall Street, claiming we would be "back to normal by Easter", and in general making Covid into yet another front in the culture war, Trump made the pandemic even worse whether he intended to or not. Even the one thing he can legitimately claim as his own--freeing up Federal funds and cutting red tape for rapid vaccine development--was mostly ruined by his need to Kulturkampf absolutely everything, including even a public health crisis. For God's sake, every time Trump encouraged his followers to get vaccinated, they shouted him down! Eventually, it became such a media spectacle that he just gave up.
GopherGal
(2,640 posts)But he didn't dare take credit for that when his "poorly educated" followers he "loves" so much bought in so enthusiastically to the anti-vax nonsense.
So no sympathy for poor under-appreciated P01135809 from me. In fact, I may need to bask a little more in that irony.
Hmm. Now that I think of it, he may have inadvertently helped make America great by killing off some of his KulturKampf Klub* followers
(*apologies to Boy George).

(74,761 posts)The mRNA vaccines were well into development, partly with government grants, before COVID.
One vaccine maker took NO Warp Speed money.
Another only took money to drop everything & gear up for mass production.
Another only took money to scale-up & a guarantee that doses they made would be paid for even if approval wasn't granted.
Warp Speed did some things. It was not the primary driver to the rapid rollout.
So, only partial credit.
