Don't worry. They will do everything they can to see to it that the gop wins every possible race from dog licker on up.

They will have no choice. They won't sit it out. They won't switch sides. They won't go indie.

4. I, for one, hope they don't heed the warning and nominate trump anyway

Running in a rematch with trump is Biden's best chance for a second term. But more importantly, it's our best chance to inflict a humiliating defeat on the entire republican party up and down the ticket. It's going to take a humiliating defeat the likes of Johnson's victory over Goldwater in 1964 to stun these radicals back to reality. A close loss only makes them double down for the next election cycle. Only a humiliating loss will force them to cleanse themselves of the MAGA extremists and begin to rebuild their party.

In my opinion, Biden, despite the wonderful job he's doing, has serious vulnerabilities that can be exploited by a younger, more energetic republican opponent with a united party backing him up. it's in our best interest that the GOP remain splintered and divided going into the next presidential election cycle. I'm all for a trump nomination, where we can humiliate him at the polls before he heads off to spend the rest of his life in jail.

6. So said way too many Democrats in 2016.

Some even voted in the Republican primaries to ensure trump would be the candidate.

8. This is not 2016

This is a disgraced and wounded former president with four criminal indictments. Comparing 2016 to 2024 is a bit fantastical, in my opinion.
Biden beat trump in 2016, and trump has not gained any new support as his base had continued to erode away. He's our best chance to completely blow away him and his followers.

11. And if enough people keep telling themselves that,

it will be a repeat of 2016.

People thought it was fantastical to think that Trump might possibly win in 2016. It is dangerous to underestimate him.

5. While not as confident as I'd like to be about a Biden victory, I think Republicans lose either way

Any Republican other than Trump stands a better chance of winning independent votes than Trump does.

But if Trump isn't the Republican nominee, I think a lot of Trump supporters either wouldn't bother to vote, or they'd vote for Trump as a write-in or independent candidate. Hell, Trump could fail to be the Republican nominee because he keeled over from a heart attack, and the insane Trump base would refuse to believe it, or vote for him like a win would resurrect Trump from the dead.

I think (barring the kind of horrible swings in public opinion you can never completely rule out in our system) Republicans are screwed either way.

7. I think a Trump nomination would lead to a record turnout for Dems and independents

Whereas, say a DeSantis nomination may actually keep Dems at home and the right wingers and independents might rule the day.

The real threat is the GOP but if Trump was relegated to the trash heap, I think a lot of potential Dem voters may not be as encouraged to vote.

Just a guess.

9. Kinda exposes the real problems for Republicans without Donald Trump as the Party leader.

After Trump, there are no real leaders that primary voters can coalesce around as a candidate. I think, once Trump is permanently out of the picture, MAGAts will lose interest in Republicans running for POTUS. Unless, of course, they can find someone with more criminal indictments that the Don Con.

Yup, Mr. Sweater Vest is gearing up to sweep the VA elections in November to give credence to his undeniable political acumen and sparkling personality. Republican elites have a champion, a sure thing to lead them out of the Trumpster Wilderness. Or so they think. Once Virginia is solidly in Republican hands, they'll sweep the nation with a friendly, reasonable autocrat replacement.

Be on alert Virginians!
