Georgia prosecutors have messages showing Trump's team is behind voting system breach

CNN — Atlanta-area prosecutors investigating efforts to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia are in possession of text messages and emails directly connecting members of Donald Trump’s legal team to the early January 2021 voting system breach in Coffee County, sources tell CNN.

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is expected to seek charges against more than a dozen individuals when her team presents its case before a grand jury next week. Several individuals involved in the voting systems breach in Coffee County are among those who may face charges in the sprawling criminal probe.

Investigators in the Georgia criminal probe have long suspected the breach was not an organic effort sprung from sympathetic Trump supporters in rural and heavily Republican Coffee County – a county Trump won by nearly 70% of the vote. They have gathered evidence indicating it was a top-down push by Trump’s team to access sensitive voting software, according to people familiar with the situation.

Trump allies attempted to access voting systems after the 2020 election as part of the broader push to produce evidence that could back up the former president’s baseless claims of widespread fraud.

While Trump’s January 2021 call to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger and effort to put forward fake slates of electors have long been considered key pillars of Willis’ criminal probe, the voting system breach in Coffee County quietly emerged as an area of focus for investigators roughly one year ago. Since then, new evidence has slowly been uncovered about the role of Trump’s attorneys, the operatives they hired and how the breach, as well as others like it in other key states, factored into broader plans for overturning the election.

...there's a need for an investigation dedicated specifically to trump's attempt to rig the vote on a national level by manipulating voting machines in multiple counties and states?

I've run out of words to express how disgusting, disheartening, disturbing this all is to me, as I'm sure it is to all of you here on DU. I know it's been said before, but HOW ON EARTH DID WE GET HERE??? How can we have so many people in this country willing to take part in a felony for a mad man who isn't fit to be a U.S. citizen let alone hold the highest office in our land?

With the way things are in this nation, even something as horrific as that can happen. We must be ever vigilant and punish these traitors to the fullest extent of the law.

you make my point for me. You and I and others on here have "heard of Hitler and Germany" and yet millions of our fellow citizens are ignorant enough to think that voting for Trump was going to MAGA.

I am hoping that he and his partners in crime (and there are plenty of them) are all held accountable. He needs to go to prison and they do too.

Jack Smith is definitely involved.
Back when Michigan AG Dana Nessel filed her criminal complaint concerning the fake electors with feds, she waited a year and when nothing was done she opened up her own investigation.

Good to see that Fani Willis is addressing the issue.

DOJ should have prosecuted the Cyber Ninjas back when Arizona gave them access to ballots, voter information, election equipment and materials, all in violation of federal law. The Cyber Ninjas were a bogus company with a mailbox for an office.

Michigan and Georgia led the way.

No!!!

Charges against Drumpf are NOT 'Speech' issues.
Charges against Drumpf are for illegal actions: plotting, planning, breaking-in, breaching, overturning.

Besides, Freedom of Speech (like all rights) is not absolute.
Freedom of Speech doesn't mean you get to say anything, any-time.

Prof Tribe said this morning that one example would be Blackmail.
You cannot perpetrate Blackmail without speech.
But Blackmail is a punishable offense.

I wonder if Trump tweeted his "Go home, we love you" video to all those traitors because he knew that card lost and he was playing the voting systems breach the next day.
