Of fine dueling pistols from Scotland, where they mastered the art of hair triggers.
Silver candlesticks and clocks were also considered welcome expensive gifts in the late 18th/early 19th century.
Maybe a matched pair of carriage horses if one is being really extravagant.

Of all the gifts mentioned, a good, new pair of balanced dueling pistols from Scotland or France were on average the most expensive.
