Been following them for a while, great place, people and doggies. Sad stuff.

(37,973 posts)They are in Estacada, Oregon. Here is their website and their mission statement.
The Asher House is a registered non-profit sanctuary in Estacada, Oregon. We rescue animals that have been discarded or unwanted, providing them with a life of comfort, love and adventure.
For over two years, our Founder, Lee Asher, traveled across 49 states to promote dog adoption and spotlight various shelters and rescues. After his Pitbull Stella passed away, Lee was determined to fulfill his lifelong dream of creating a sanctuary, where animals could feel treasured, protected and free. In late 2020, Lee discovered a large parcel of property which was the perfect setting to turn his vision into a reality.
Together, we can take action, and change the world...one rescue animal at a time.

(37,973 posts)Who caught pneumonia when she went into the vet to be spayed. It is nearly as heartbreaking today as when it happened years ago. I really feel for the Asher House people and pack.

(54,036 posts)will go to the shelters and societies that save our beautiful babies. That has been my plan for my entire life and I always stick to my ideals. I don't talk the talk, especially when it comes to something as important as these animal rescue groups.

I thought I had it will set up and then I found out if I didnt set up a trust with named beneficiaries and notify accounts that everything will go through probate in about half of it will go to the government. Depends on how much you love the state youre in!

(54,036 posts)and if anyone contests it they get nothing. Ha! That was a very important feature to me. I included the animal groups' names, addresses, etc specifically in the trust. They send me birthday and Christmas cards every year. No one in my family needs the money and they all have known of my plans my whole life so it is no surprise to them. They aren't greedy but I still made it iron clad. Some people change after someone dies and money is involved.

(20,090 posts)Youre doing a good thing! I just wanted to make it all as easy on my son as possible.
Ive seen the gamut, from loving families that somehow descend into the worst of themselves to families whose people thought everything through, and had it all wrapped up with a bowl leaving no stress. Thats what I want for my family.
Right now, my mom is visiting her sister, whom I busted stealing blankets from my grandmother at 3 am after she passed, many years ago. She couldve bought thousands of blankets herself. When it was really was about holding onto memories. Im so glad we were all able to close our eyes to the craziness, and stay loving.

I've watched his Animal Channel programs & know he's the real deal - he's has so much respect for and patience with the dogs he cares for in his sanctuary. He treats them as individuals.
