Asa Hutchinson calls on Trump to end Presidential campaign

https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2023/08/01/trump-indicted-jan-6-overturn-2020-election-results/#link-6HDR3IWQZRGIDEWXUVOPLTATT4

Former Arkansas governor Asa Hutchinson, who is running for the GOP presidential nomination against Donald Trump, called on the former president to end his 2024 campaign, saying he is “morally responsible” for the Jan. 6, 2021, attack. In a statement, Hutchinson also said it is now up to the country’s justice system to “determine whether he is criminally responsible" for the attack.

but struggling to achieve 1% in the GQP primary polls,
he really has nothing to lose by telling the truth, politically...

On the other hand, it could put his personal safety at risk... so I guess there is some courage required here.

Thinks it’s time to put ALL OF THIS BEHIND US, and lil Ron says it’s just a distraction. Yeah lil Ron a big fucking distraction with indictments this long. You could hide your failures behind them. For awhile.

And pence has way too much freedom hating baggage for me to make him a hero for opposing a serial lying morally degenerate conman.

Not running helps Republicans and the country.

Trump gets nothing so he’ll reject it.

He’s only running to stay out of jail, so exile him away with outside world access. Better yet, build an entire zoo island with a caged habitat for each family and friend criminal.

I doubt he will ever show up at a trial if there’s a risk he can be immediately taken into custody.

but right now, Trump IS the Republican Party for the most part. If he drops out, where will his followers go? I daresay that none of the current crop of clowns would only pick up a few voters. I get the vibe that for the current sheeples it is Trump or nothing.

So where does the next savior come from? I would guess the current crop of nobodies will do anything and everything to emulate the Trump mystique but will all fall short.

It sure won't be Asa Hutchinson or Mikey and certainly not Chris Christie. Even if the door clangs shut behind old DJT in the next year, the sheeple will probably still vote him as the nominee.

In short the MAGA Party is now damned with him and damned without him.

21. THE OCTOBER MARCH ON VERSAILLES
Tue Aug 1, 2023, 09:19 PM
Aug 2023
In October 1789, thousands of Parisians, many of them women, embarked on a 12-mile march to Versailles, the residence of the French king Louis XVI and the National Constituent Assembly. Driven to desperation by food shortages, they hoped the king would intervene – but some had more sinister ambitions. The October March on Versailles, as it became known, proved a pivotal movement in the French Revolution and the fate of King Louis XVI.

And suggest that he try for a speedy trial and clear his name, so he can get back in the race before election day. But they know that is not going to happen.

I suspect we will see more of this in the coming days from DeSantis et. al. Hutchinson's strategy isn't that far off from Nicki Haley's "he's our past, not our future" strategy.

Trump is lapping the field in polling today. Trump also would not be likely to select his Veep from that field. So all things being equal, most everyone in that field would be done after Iowa. But the smart money in the Republican Party has seen that the motivation in the last two election cycles has been people motivated to vote against Trump and MAGA, but they also know that not everything is coming up roses for Biden. The economy is in better-than-expected shape, but people are still grumpy, there is widespread dissatisfaction with Biden's age, and they still hope for some flame to emerge from the smoke of the Hunter Biden situation.

The strategy now will be - starting slowly - for candidates bringing up the indictments. They will make clear that they don't think he's done much - if anything - wrong, but will imply that the distraction of Trump's legal woes and the enormous cost of his defense will guarantee a Biden victory, and that this will very likely lead to President Kamala Harris and Clarence Thomas being replaced with Barack Obama. Can't have that!

I think every one of them - including Pence - will broadly hint/imply that, if elected, they'll look into pardoning Trump and, of course, request a Special Prosecutor to look into the Bidens. But look at all of them to start hammering the idea that these indictments mean that Trump can't get elected.
