Ukrainian helicopter crew say women flash them as they fly overhead to boost their morale fighting Russia
Sophia Ankel Jul 17, 2023, 7:57 AM

A Ukrainian air-force crew told The Sunday Times that women flash them when they fly overhead.
One woman even proposed marriage by holding up a sign as they flew over a town, a pilot said.
The Ukrainian air force is trying to keep morale high as it faces a strong Russian counterpart.

A Ukrainian helicopter crew told The Sunday Times that women in the country had flashed them as they were flying overhead to boost their morale in fighting Russia.

In a recent feature, the show of support was described by a Ukrainian pilot, referred to only as a major named Maksym.

He said his crew had saved the GPS locations of places where it'd happened, lighthearted moments in their dangerous and often demoralizing missions against a far superior Russian air force.

One woman even proposed marriage to them by holding up a sign, he said.

But I love that the pilots are storing the GPS locations!

I was posted to Germany two days after the Wall came down in 1989. For months afterward, hundreds of thousands of East Germans streamed across the border looking for new and better lives in the West.

Once, I was riding in the back of a deuce-and-a-half (an Army cargo truck) with some guys in my platoon on the way back to Kitzingen from Schweinfurt at the end of the day. A Trabant convertible with four gorgeous, and presumably East German, young ladies pulled up behind us trying to pass our rather slow truck. Once room to pass opened up, they started to pull past us, and just as they did, the girl in the front passenger seat stood up and whipped off her blouse, flashing us guys in the truck.

She waved her blouse at us, and she and the other girls cheered as they drove past, and naturally, us guys just about came unglued. We talked about it for months. As you can imagine, it's still a vivid memory for me.

I imagine flashing an airborne helo crew would be a most memorable event for all involved.

And to be fair, I'm sure many Ukrainian men are as striking as the women.

And some of those brave defenders are women as well

I rode in those in Vietnam, that's how old these helos are.

I like the nose art.

The fighting spirit is the same

Never served, but paid $50 to ride in a "scout helicopter" (LOACH?) to see what I missed

I was only passenger. Pilot asked me "is this your first time in a helicopter!" I answered yes. He replied "Hopefully it won't be your last."

He asked if I wanted to feel the speed, I said definitely

He dipped down low to the trees. Holy f##@!
Then he did a bank so steep that I was looking straight down at him on my right, my body straining on the harness. (Pilot seat is in the right )
Hope I get the chance to do it again some day

This is the bird I flew in. A civilian helicopter, but similar in appearance to the O6 Cayuse of Vietnam fame. (But nowhere near the performance ) Used a lot by police as an observation/pursuit helo.

try doing that with bullets flying past.

Would definitely not recommend it, your sphincter tends to tighten up.

I can laugh about it now, but back then, not so much.

I was trying to pull the seat cushion off with the crack of my ass, WITHOUT having to dodge bullets!

I drove OTR semi, getting flashed wasn't unusual. Always made me laugh.

Of course, being gay, it wasn't a turn on, but I appreciated the thought.
