The dreaded "wedge" (strong east flow with Atlantic moisture) prevails. It is 45-F, rain, and gusty east winds.

(6,488 posts)The 25 degree drop in temperature makes it feel a lot colder. Hope you are not camping!!!
Weather like this is very common around Memorial Day in the Carolinas.
SF is 20 degrees warmer than you.

(9,734 posts)Or maybe it is more common in the mountains and colder areas of the Carolinas, but not here at the coasts! There's a reason why this weekend is considered the kickoff to summer and it ain't because we see temperatures damn near in the 50s, I'll tell you that much!

(9,734 posts)I was starting to wonder if there was a hurricane or something I didn't know about, but the temperature dropped in a way you don't normally see during a hurricane. Sure, usually hurricanes come during the summer and the rain and lack of sun inevitably cools things off, but not like this. It's not like freezing or anything, but the inside temperature dipped into the mid-60s, which is unheard for this time of year.
Really strange weather that I haven't seen in quite some time -- if ever!

(39,118 posts)I can sympathize, I've been there.
For me, the problem is that I took down my storm windows too soon. Or I waited too long to put them up in the fall.

(51,308 posts)Been raining all day, and I'm not sure we got above 58.
More of the same tomorrow. Don't remember this cold a Memorial Day even when I lived in the Boone/Blowing Rock area.
The bright side is that I've not heard a single firework, and you know how they love fireworks here on any holiday...
And my garden is loving the rain!
