After a Texas family asked a neighbor to stop shooting a gun in his yard because their baby was trying to sleep, he came over and killed 5 people with an AR-15 style rifle, police say.Neighbors came to a Texas man's fence and asked him to stop firing his gun in his yard because they had a baby next door who was trying to sleep.
In response, police say the man drunkenly went next door and killed five people with an AR-15-style rifle, ABC News reported. He remains at large.
It is the latest in a string of shootings resulting from seemingly normal and even mundane interactions.

(4,074 posts)Because the look-like weapons of war are toys to enjoy, like darts.
Or, as I am told, simply tools, and tools are to be used.
America has too many "tools" with 'toys', mostly boys with balls but no brains.
Gun apologists are not necessarily dumb, but they are on the wrong side of any valid measure of ethics of humanity.

(37,889 posts)But yeah, my first reaction was that I would not approach an active shooter (even one shooting at inanimate objects) and ask them to change their behavior. Given the hair trigger far too many who love their guns possess it seems more prudent to avoid direct involvement. I might call law enforcement.

Texas gets bashed, not because it's the only place this happens, but because the Texas legislature works overtime to make shit like this easier to happen
If you're embarrassed to be from there, change the fucking leadership of the state.

Just because you might be in the electoral minority doesn't mean this isn't what Texas stands for.
This is Texas until it changes.
Too bad.

(5,163 posts)I mean, there's theoretical laws against privately selling to a banned person but since there's no mechanism for private sellers to actually check the legality of a buyer it's practically unregulated.
It's why I always sell through an FFL and keep a bill of sale with the dealer's info. I will not pass on a firearm to someone without an NICS check.

(13,512 posts)I mean, when some yahoo covets them, purchases them, fondles them and feels how manly it makes them feel, they simply must get some use and freedom! Especially after a few drinks.
True story. I was camping at a property we owned with my mother who had brought a shotgun just in case. Cougars were a local problem. One evening after a beach bonfire she had a few drinks too many and started to imagine things beyond the light of the bonfire. She couldn't wait to use the gun she had brought and went off into the darkness firing off shotgun shells. In the morning we found she had shot at a stray cat--not the ferocious cougar she imagined. It was her property and oh well.
