BTRTN on the real problem with the Dominion/Fox settlement: it doesn't fix the fact that nearly a quarter of Americans continue to doubt that our election results can be trusted. BTRTN proposes for how to correct the defamation of our free and fair elections:

Excerpts: "In some ways, the handling of the Carlson firing reinforces a crucial point: nothing not the Dominion lawsuit, not the settlement, not Carlson is going to change Foxs modus operandi. And that is a problem for all of us. You see, the lawsuit was all about the defamation of a company
Dominion Voting Systems. But nothing is being done about the defamation of the American system of free and fair elections. Donald Trump and Fox News conspired to make a full quarter of Americans believe that the 2020 election was stolen from Donald Trump...
"Dominion won a big cash settlement, to be sure... but theres a strong argument that Fox News also got exactly, precisely what it needed out of the settlement...
"There is, however, an answer that addresses all these issues. And its not that hard to implement. Dominion Voting Systems should take $100,000,000 of its settlement money and make a gigantic advertising buy on NFL football this fall. It should use this advertising campaign to tell Americans that when Fox News pushed a phony story about election fraud, it was lying. And it should use the ad campaign to tell Americans that its elections are free, fair, and should be respected as binding.
"That is now your job, Dominion Voting Systems...Yes, maybe you should stop and consider that you owe that much to do a country that built the legal system and paid for the courts and wrote the laws that enabled you to cash a check for $787,500,000..."

If I ran Dominion, I'd do it. Because it's a good thing to do.
And we aren't having much luck with the government, the press, and the legal system.

(4,616 posts)they got, and what they choose to do with it, is none of our business nor is it their obligation to to spend any $$ educate the country. Even if it was 100 times the amount.

(872 posts)... the point of this article was to address the issue of reaching Fox News viewers, who live in a bubble, and educate them that their own favorite network was lying to them.
They don't listen to the government, they never go near any news outlet or press organization that isn't right wing, and the legal system has no credibility to them, as evidenced by their reaction to Trump's indictment.
The only way to address this issue is by reaching out to those people directly (an ads on the NFL seemed the most direct way) and giving the evidence in the Fox texts and emails that Fox was lying.

(4,616 posts)Americans should wake the fuck up and think for themselves. It's NOT the responsibility of Dominion to pay for ad buys to educate the GD country!
"That is now your job, Dominion Voting Systems...Yes, maybe you should stop and consider that you owe that much to do a country that built the legal system and paid for the courts and wrote the laws that enabled you to cash a check for $787,500,000...""
And we wonder how we got here!

(872 posts)Anyone who is a regular viewer of Fox News is not about to wake up and think for themselves anytime this century.
The point of the article is that the only place Fox viewers get their news and opinions is in the Fox bubble.
So at least this is an idea about how to introduce them to the truth that they will never seek or discover on their own...
