@krassenstein
BREAKING: Moments ago Manhattan DA, Alvin Bragg has issued this statement in response to the GOP subpoenaing former Special Assistance to the DA, Mark Pomerantz. It reads:
"The House GOP continues to attempt to undermine an active investigation and ongoing New York criminal case with an unprecedented campaign of harassment and intimidation. Repeated efforts to weaken state and local law enforcement actions are an abuse of power and will not deter us from our duty to uphold the law. These elected officials would better serve their constituents and the country, and fulfill their oath of office, by doing their jobs in Congress and not intruding on the sovereignty of the state of New York by interfering in an ongoing criminal matter in state court."
THANK YOU Alvin Bragg!

(25,338 posts)has no legitimate legislative purpose to subpoena a former state level ADA? The J6 committee had legitimate reasons to subpoena people associated with Trump and his administration because the J6 committee members are representatives in the Federal Congress. They were investigating a FEDERAL event where they have jurisdiction to make FEDERAL law changes if necessary in regard to how such events should be handled.
But in the case of NY v Donald Trump, it's a STATE case, not a federal one.
Second grounds for Pomerantz to refuse are that Congress is interfering in an ongoing investigation and legal case. In doing that, they are obstructing justice.
