It's really the only way for Republicans to move away from MAGA craziness. The nation needs to continue to show how Trumpism is a losing proposition.

But whoever it is, they'll have to fit the authoritarian mindset Republicans have come to love. They've given up on liberal democracy. In an evolving country, only authoritarianism will give them what they want.

The Mike Gallagher chatter is more about him running against Baldwin for Senate.

He is 2 years younger than Buttigieg. He only just turned 39. The Rethugs don't do bright and shiny at the top of the ticket.

He hit all the buttons,, said: Drumpf should drop out to not be a distraction and to concentrate on his case(s), that all the three known investigations add up to serious stuff that should give Evangelicals pause, that the legal system is what distinguishes this country and should be respected to play out, that himself as former prosecutor does not dispute the charges being brought with the presumption of innocence, that as for his supporting the nominee the nominee should be somebody other than Drumpf, etc., etc.

SUNUNU shoots his mouth off one round short of Drumpf and CHRISTIE is a pathetic clown who should get off the network air as "pundit" if he is running. Those two are doomed, so if viable then qualify as darkhorse.

"Asa Hutchinson now wants to rewrite history—but his support for Trump and the MAGA agenda speaks for itself," Democratic National Committee Chair Jaime Harrison said in a statement Sunday. "As governor, Hutchinson signed one of the strictest abortion bans in the country, ripped healthcare away from thousands of Arkansans, and advocated for taking away the ACA's protections for those with preexisting conditions. He's just another extremist joining the ever-expanding race for the MAGA base."

She might run as an independent and cause disruption. I wouldn't vote for her, but some independent and old gop would.

I recall a number of 3rd party challengers who've made a splash over the years.
Ralph Nader, Ross Perot, Gary Johnson, and currently Evan McMullin. McMullin is young, had a showing in the 2020 presidential election and in 22 challenged Senator Lee in Utah, losing by only 11 points. McMullin is a tfg critic whereas Lee is a sycophant.

Within the GOPQ, tfg is the mob boss. Too many are loyal cult 45 members or loyal to the party, no matter the candidate. Those that are running against him in the primary are not calling out his crimes, they're pandering to his base.

The GOPQ is a party consisting of the worst parts of "humanity" and while some are worse than others they're all complicit in undermining democracy. Deplorable liars, cheaters, traitors, zealots, haters, manipulators, gullible, and worse.

A dark horse is still a dark horse. No re thug riding in to save the party. It wasn't worth saving anyway, and I really long to see it shatter and implode. It's been fractured for a while, but somehow it's still here, a force of chaos. Trust no republican.

Those are my thoughts, since you asked...

I don't trust a word he says. He parses every word, every syllable, to keep everything acceptable and generic. It does not match the FACT that he latched on to that scumbag Scott Walker big time, as well as Paul Ryan, Robin Vos, and the Fitzgerald Milwaukee Irish mafia. The creepy Republican machine is behind every State election he's been in.

I think if EVER there was a wolf in sheep's clothing, it's Mike Gallagher. He's dangerous and I will trash him every chance I get.

That's the mood of the Republican party right now, so that's what's needed to win their nomination. If he can hold his own in an insult contest with Trump, he could have a chance. But he'd need to get himself well-known right now - does he have big money backers like Thiel to trash Trump?
