During an appearance on CNN on Monday morning, Ninth Circuit Florida State Attorney Monique Worrell launched a verbal broadside at Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) for politicizing a tragic shooting in her district.
Worrell was reacting to a letter from the governor who is making a big show of demanding why accused shooter Keith Moses, 19, was not in jail over juvenile offenses which, presumably, would have kept him from shooting and killing a woman, a nine-year-old girl and a journalist who was covering the earlier shooting.
Taking a jab at prosecutors who did not prosecute Moses on marijuana charges, a spokesperson for the Florida governor stated, "The shocking nature of these horrific acts is difficult enough to process, but even more galling is the fact that the man who was promptly arrested for these crimes has been allowed to remain on the streets."
Explaining the circumstances of previous Moses arrests, Worrell defended the prosecutors saying they "don't have a crystal ball," before lashing out at DeSantis.

(28,550 posts)... hoping to stave off a suspension (like Andrew Warren). Or at least start a public relations campaign to assist in fighting such a suspension.

(22,775 posts)I don't consider this as a solution:
Keeping kids locked up for low level crime just radicalizes them more and faster. What's needed is more counseling and support for kids struggling to just get through school.

(28,550 posts)I think she's saying we should increase the cutoff age that is often called "age of criminal majority" - which I think is 16 in Florida (when most states are 18).

(22,775 posts)And there's nothing else in the article that explains it any other way. Even Dem, including Biden, are falling for copaganda.

(16,927 posts)has that crystal ball and he uses it to pre-empt any crimes by juveniles by knocking on their doors late at night, searching them when his troops feel they're out too late or hanging out with what he considers the wrong crowd.
They changed the name and put it further out of sight but you know that bad ideas in law enforcement never go away.
I'm sure ron would luv to have this happening everywhere.
