UPDATE: Santos' press release was removed from his house.gov website

Jesse Rodriguez @JesseRodriguez
George Santos posts press release on official House website citing having taken the oath & being sworn in today. No members were sworn in today. There is no Speaker of the House. https://santos.house.gov/media/press-releases/taking-oath-office

ADD: You guys are right. These press releases are pre-written and scheduled. I've been to a few of the govt sites for newly-elected congress members, democrats and republican. Some of them still have press releases with virtually the exact wording still up on their pages.
Still, hell of first day for George.

(467 posts)This includes more than Santos. If newly elected reps have not been sworn in how do they get the right to vote for speaker (or adjournment)?

(19,808 posts)there's absolutely nothing "honorable" about George Santos, if indeed that's actually his real name.
Of course I'm sure he has no idea how the House of Representatives works, so not knowing the procedure for his swearing-in would be a moot point.
Enjoy your one and only term, George. There won't be another. 😠

(12,817 posts)This could have been an error of the web site making it live prematurely. Despite all the Santos awfulness, I suspect he was not directly responsible for writing the release or timing its appearance.
