https://www.mynwfl.com/post/rebekahjonescasedismissedVery long story. Conclusion:
She lived to tell the tale. The problem is hardly anyone is still listening.
When theres so much disinformation online, when any mention or reference to me is met with dozens of single-purpose hate accounts defaming and attacking me, people give up on the truth, Jones said. Truth got me into this, truth got me out of this, and truth will be the anecdote to these crimes against reality going forward.

(7,400 posts)Cute, demeaning jokes get us nowhere. The corruption there needs to be investigated. It's foolish to dismiss the once blue state that gave us Obama in recent times.

I think we can rest assured that investigating corruption is pretty irrelevant unless/until there are actual consequences for corruption. And I cant think of anyone actually important, Republican, and in jail.

(23,362 posts)Florida has good and bad people like anywhere else. But Gaetz's voters are the kind who'll worship anyone who - like Trump - makes them feel good about all their petty little hatreds.
That's all they ever look for when pulling the lever.
It's easy to see why they have so many con-men down there, political or otherwise.

(7,400 posts)It's alarming that Mike Lindell seems to be the only person who finds that suspicious (and is apparently going to spend millions investigating that).

(23,362 posts)Rather than a qualified and upstanding person like Ms. Jones.
I lived in M'ssippi for years - and am fairly familiar with the holier-than-thou's and Jim Crowers. The kind that will worship anyone who'll validate their petty little hatreds (of which they have so many).
It must no doubt be very hard for any Dems living in that benighted district.

(7,794 posts)There's not a lot of fact checking in the MAGA world.
I'm so glad to hear this is how it finally shook out. I am nevertheless concerned about her future safety and security if she maintains residence in the US.
Hell, I'm concerned about my own if the MAGA-Maniacs continue to rule conservanoise prime time.

Tell me DeSantis office was all up in this without telling me DeSantis office was all up in this!
Like we don't know he was behind every bit of it! But the reporter was right to ask, abd I think the response was very telling.
Can you imagine what a nightmare that guy would be as potus? We really would end up living g in a police state.

(15,471 posts)I've always had my reservations concerning Ms. Jones.
Amid suspicions that Jones illegally accessed the Florida Department of Health System to send a message on the agencys internal platform, police searched her home in December 2020. A subsequent search of her electronics suggested that she sent a message to 1,750 people, downloaded confidential data, and saved it to her devices, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Jones was later charged with an offense against users of computers, computer systems, computer networks and electronic devices, a third-degree felony. Jones officially admitted guilt as part of the Dec. 8 agreement.
"Its inconsistent with the document, but I dont really care what she says," Cappleman said with an audible sigh. "Its a free country."
Under the plea agreement, made public Friday in Leon County Circuit Court, Jones also agreed to pay $200 per month toward $20,000 to cover the states cost of the criminal investigation, attend mental health counseling monthly and perform 150 hours of community service. She had no previous felony convictions on her record.
