any order to deploy the National Guard on January 6th or on any other
day. Nor did he instruct any Federal law enforcement agency to assist.
Because the authority to deploy the National Guard had been delegated to the Department of Defense, the Secretary of Defense could,
and ultimately did deploy the Guard. Although evidence identifies alikely miscommunication between members of the civilian leadershipin the Department of Defense impacting the timing of deployment,
the Committee has found no evidence that the Department of Defense
intentionally delayed deployment of the National Guard. The Select
Committee recognizes that some at the Department had genuine
concerns, counseling caution, that President Trump might give anillegal order to use the military in support of his efforts to overturnthe election.

(7,604 posts)"He didn't do anything" sounds more like dereliction of duty, when it wasn't "passive" at all. It was active, intentional acts of sedition.

(7,604 posts)I'm going to discard uncertainty and be entirely irresponsible. I'm saying that it was an attempted coup, and that Trump tried to overthrow the government of the United States. He USED THE ELECTION HE LOST AS PHONY JUSTIFICATION FOR OVERTHROWNING THE GOVERNMENT. He knew he lost. He knowingly lied to justify the coup. He USED THE ELECTION as an excuse to create conditions for sedition. That's the entire story in a nutshell.

(39,213 posts)But let's talk about his failure to secure the 2020 election. All Chump could talk about - even in the summer before the election - was how it was going to be "rigged" and the Democrats were planning to "steal" the election.
Oh really? Wasn't he the President? Wasn't he in charge of the Executive Branch of government? And wasn't it HIS JOB to secure the election and make sure it was safe and fair for every American citizen to vote? If the election really was stolen - and we know it wasn't but he still claims it was - then he FAILED big-time.
He either needs to accept that he failed to secure the election (and he failed as the 45th President.)
Or he didn't fail to secure the election - he just lost because the majority of Americans voted for Joe Biden.
So which is it, Mr. Chump? We're waiting.
