DA Bragg was getting a lot of dirt on these corporate things and decided that was the push NYC needed to make, but kept it under wraps until the case was air tight. Since the companies could shift funds around and do other things to cover their tracks, keeping it locked down would prevent skating off scot free.

The AG was aggressively attacking other aspects of Disgraced Former Guy's crimes anyway.

Yeah I know this is more of a fiction plot! Maybe I read too many crime and detective fiction.
