That's how it (mostly) works down there:

The judge is friends and/or relatives with one of the two parties in any given case (of at least some importance) - and the result is not only a foregone conclusion, it had been discussed, joked, and laughed about in some barbecue or hunting trip prior.

The 'synchronized' response to any potential press questions as well - though those rarely happen either.

It's like the 3rd world but richer.
