As much as we f’ed up in Iraq, it’s nothing close to how disastrous Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has been.

to the conversations involving mostly Iraq war cheerleaders when they realized oooops, they wouldn't be greeting us with flowers and golly gee it was going to be a long slog.

Our military performed with an expected degree of excellence.

Russia has a bad policy coupled with a confused, crumbling, and corrupt military.

The level of performance and restraint* was without equal in invasion and occupation.
We had a 50/50 chance on a civil war IF we did everything right and we went out of our way to do a lot of wrong things.

Watching and learning about the Russian Army has been fascinating. They aren’t built for offense and the corruption is astounding.

*we have a horrible record of internal sexual abuse.

failing army, whether Ukraine exist as a seperate country and whether to keep the war going until victory no matter how long it takes.

Good. Let then squabble now amongst themselves before they eventual turn against Putin.

have Russian soldiers telling their families back home that there were no Nazis and NATO wasn't around, either, that there were only Ukrainians and no one else.

The soldiers who live through this are going to have one hell of a lot to say about it when they get home. All the Newspeak guidelines and FSB bullying in the world won't stop them, either.

If the Putin regime doesn't collapse when the war finally does, then the returning soldiers will destabilize it.

I had no idea anyone who values their life is able to put forth such a strong opposition on the TV. It was all interesting, but such an ending around the 6:10 mark. The equivalent of our neo-Nazi reich-wingers says "we need to liquidate the Nazi regime", then one of the sane ones says "how long will this keep going on", to which the GOP.eanuts for brains one says "however long it takes... so my 10-year kids..." and is then interrupted with "will eventually get the chance to fight, right?"

I give it 3 more months. If the Russian military shit show is still stinking up the place at years end, I predict one of two things will happen:
Either Putin will kick ass on his military, and possibly go nuclear, or the military will kick ass on Putin, and he'll have a sudden heart attack or stroke, and be put in a sanatorium for health reasons.

In any event, I predict the Russian public will get woke sometime along in this process.
