Twisted Sister singer Dee Snider spent his weekend lashing out at supporters of right-wing Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake after the campaign for the GOP frontrunner used lyrics from his 1984 song Were Not Gonna Take It to bolster her run.
In addition to beginning rallies with that tune, a campaign account on Twitter promoting Lakes efforts posted song lyrics including, Weve got the right to choose it, there aint no way well lose it This is our life, this is our song. That message was tweeted at Snider, as if he might support her candidacy. He does not.
Hey idiots! Read the 1st line, Snider replied, referencing the right to choose.
This is a pro-choice anthem you (are) co-opting, the Queens native noted. It was NEVER intended for you fascist morons! As the songwriter & singer I DENOUNCE EVERYTHING @KariLake STANDS FOR! Write your own damn song!

PMRC senate hearing was pure gold. (The dangers of rock music to children) They thought they were going to get some hungover, stoner, R&R train wreck.
Instead they got Dee Snyder. Doesn't drink, doesn't smoke, doesn't do drugs. Well read, researched ahead of time, well spoken and articulate. His father, a New York State Trooper. His mother an art teacher. Education was always valued.
They had no idea how to handle him. They couldn't. (FYI - He's Ukrainian, by the way.)
