8. This is a lie that has some historical truth. That is the problem.

In the aftermath of the Civil War, the Democratic Party DID align itself with the Ku Klux Klan in the South. The thing is, that those affiliations changed. The Democratic Party was the Conservative party in US Government and at least some factions of the Republican Party were progressive. Anyone with half a brain, understands that the modern Republicans (1960's) folded the Dixiecrats (Southern Segregationist Democrats) into the Republican party after LBJ signed the Civil Rights Acts into law. Problem is that right wingers do not utilize their brain. They are purely emotional creatures so they believe the right wing propaganda that the switch never happened.


When you have an unpopular idea of how society should be run. One that does not meet any needs for the vast majority of people, you have to learn to lie really well. It doesn't hurt to have very rich donors who can fund more and more propaganda.

the ones who really care about equality and civil rights, while telling them Democrats were the ones who enslaved and oppressed them. Every time I hear Republicans spouting this crappola I want to scream. Apparently, distorting and ignoring American history is what passes for political outreach to black voters in the GOP.

If this were 1860 I would be a Republican, but it's not 1860. It's 2022, and Republicans long ago evolved into the party of big money, racism, nativism, misogyny, science denial, fascism and a whole host of other evils. Things most Democrats haven't supported for seventy years. As a result, I'm a Democrat.
