@RepBrendanBoyle
This is the stairwell I take to my office. In my 8 yrs here, I have never seen a tourist taking a picture of it.

(53,544 posts)why was the photo taken from that far back?
867-5309.
(1,189 posts)I don't know how far away it was, but standing on the floor might make sense.
If the guy there was the one taking the video J6, that's a creepy character. This just doesn't convince me Loudermilk was knowingly providing intel for the attempted coup, even if this guy was trying to gather some. Capitol police said the behavior was not suspicious.
LiberalFighter
(53,544 posts)He would had at least gone to the foot of the stairs instead of the other side of the hall.
The fact they were there when tours were not allowed is suspicious. I also don't see any police at that site. So how can they really say it wasn't suspicious if they even saw the video. Or if it wasn't a Capitol Police that was friendly to MAGA.

Loudermilk I didn't give no tours and if I did it wasn't a reconnaissance tour.

(88,009 posts)and I didn't see any. Maybe there were adolescents, because one or two looked a little bit shorter than the adults, but many adults are shorter, too.
Sure looked like a recon tour to me. WHY take photos of stairwells? Why the interest in stairwells?
Raster
(21,010 posts)...and the more publicized "stairwell" picture is of a stairwell that leads to one of the main tunnels in the Capitol complex used by lawmakers. And this WAS. NOT. THE. ONLY. "TOUR"!!! It appears that other "tours" led by other Republicans focused on other points of interest. They had multiple teams casing the Capitol... and all of these "tours" were either led by Republican Congresspersons or high-placed members of their staff.

If you're not smashing windows and beating up police officers, are you even a real tourist?
Ah yes, the historic stairwell of American greatness. Must photograph it for Instagram. #FreedomStairwell

(14,692 posts)It's one thing if you were a yahoo MAGAt who went there only because dear leader told you to so you can be part of the wall of mindless mob; it's a totally different situation if you were part of the planning of the seditious insurrection.

(24,282 posts)Someone who is planning to do something nefarious will scout the site prior to the attack so as to familiarize themselves with the venue.
Nobody takes a picture of a stairway unless it's attached to the outside of a significant building. Nobody.
This was a reconnaissance of the Capitol with the plan to attack it. The conspiracy is in plain sight. Maybe there's still a Department of Justice.

(29,975 posts)we don't know if Loudermilk had criminal intentions. How could he possibly know these people were traitors?
There should be all kinds of video, nice to know we are finally seeing some a year and a half after the tour.

(97,994 posts)The complex was closed to visitors and tour, period. Had been for months because, well, there's pandemic and all. They stuck out like a sore thumb and did not give a shit that they might be seen because they were sure they would get away with it.
It was not accidental or impromptu.

Former hill staffer here. Aaron is spot on. This is absolutely reconnaissance. I know where every single one of these photos is, and it's checkpoint access to routes into the Capitol. This is a logistics and planning trip for a breach.
Aaron Fritschner @Fritschner · 9h
I am immediately convinced that this is reconnaissance. He's taking pictures of the entry points around the security checkpoint to the Cannon Tunnel, which connects the House Office Buildings to the U.S. Capitol

(1,834 posts)spoken to these people and looked at their phones? Seems like we have probable cause.
But who takes a picture of a person on a stairwell?
I know I have, on numerous occasions. Wife, mostly. Son, a few times.
Picture the possibilities.
If that type of photo is completely new to you ... Then I understand.

Maybe that IS what they took a picture of, but doesn't mean that was the objective.
