Arizona, Florida, Idaho, Kentucky, Texas and Wyoming have passed new abortion restrictions recently. The Washington Post-ABC poll finds 4 in 10 residents in these states are aware that recent abortion restrictions were passed in their state, but a majority said they were unaware of new restrictions.

If it's not something slamming the news headlines 24/7, you can't blame people for not being aware of current laws and restrictions.

Btw, the majority of people in red states are mostly unaware of anything not force fed to them by Faux.

(3,939 posts)compound that with off-year elections with low turnout. I wouldn't be surprised if on average only 30% of a state's eligible voters actually vote in elections (and far less in primaries).
That's why negative politics is so effective. You reduce participation rates to the point that a small motivated plurality gets to make all of the decisions.
