...it could very well be another domestic mass shooting, but how hard would it be to realize strapping a bomb vest on and blowing yourself up on a suicide mission is not necessary in the US? Most anyone can get their hands on a firearm and extended magazines to take out more people than a nail bomb. Plus, they live to do it again. We'll see if any group takes credit.
Homemade bombs are so primitive when hand held killing machines are widely available.
You want gun control? Just wait until non-white people start doing the mass shooting.

(3 posts)Since this is apparently the first time a non-white has committed a mass shooting in America ever, we should expect serious gun control reform any day now.

(20,207 posts)In 1967, California codified into law A.B 1591, otherwise known at the Mulford Act. Sponsored by Oakland assemblyman Don Mulford, A.B. 1591 made it a felony to publicly carry any firearmeither openly or concealedin public places without a governmental license to do so. The law came about after the events of May 2, 1967, when a group of thirty Black Panthers appeared visibly armed at the California State Capitol building to protest an earlier version of A.B. 1591. At that time, there was nothing in California law that expressly prohibited the open carriage of firearms, either in public or private. A.B. 1591 effectively closed this loophole.

As far as non-white doing the shooting, I doubt it will have any meaningful impact on gun controls. I've been hearing from right wing people that complains about inner-city "black-on-black" crimes for years.

(1,822 posts)Since we're strolling all the way down last gasp lane on this, I guess we can't rule out the possibility that the REAL shooter may have also used hypnosis on some innocent person to transform them into their own personal Kill Bot.

(1,822 posts)The people trapped inside that subway car with the shooter this morning certainly didn't have to wait long for that.
So I guess this means we'll have better gun control now?
