their "sheer will" would have drained down the street into the sewer.

This says as much about the Russian drivers (and the commander they were in touch with) as it does about the Ukrainians.

I applaud the strength of will of the Ukrainians. I note the attitude of the Russian soldiers involved. Perhaps that's PR, "don't upset the locals", perhaps it's meaningful, "we really don't want to kill them ... why are we here?" Can't know.
