I have to go back and look for it but he specifically said hed read a post on DU on Trump and Ukraine. Anyone else able to go back and find it?
Im a little geeky about Nance Ill admit. But also love knowing were a presence. DU as a news source has always been a source of pride, Ill admit.

(59,198 posts)If I remember correctly, a friend of his saw my reference to him in the credits, and recommended he read it, which he did. It was of cour entirely up to him whether or not like it and mention it on the radio!
Whats your book? Ill buy it and read it!

(59,198 posts)A friend of mine whose opinion I valued very highly told me that he'd read it, but he wouldn't hold back if he didn't like it. He was no stranger to story telling, as the story of an important part of his life was once made into a film that was Oscar nominated and a Golden Globe winner (though it was anything BUT true to the real story). I told him I'd take my chances. His comments appear on the back cover. You'll see who I am talking about when you get it. The best comment I got, though, was from Spider-Man creator Stan Lee. That's the last one on the back cover. You'll see that one, too

(13,438 posts)Other than the "Agent Mike" jokes about surveillance here, there have been any number of times stuff from DU has turned up in interviews with some well respected folks. Our LBN forum is a huge resource because anything that appears there has GOT to be linked to at least one mainstream news source. You can read news here and have a reasonable expectation that it's going to be legit. Something else that has always been a huge plus, IMO, is the benefit of reports from DUers on the ground where stuff is happening. What you see happening might only be a part of the story, but it sometimes that offers an insight that is WAY ahead of the news cycle.
Some of our speculation can turn out to be wrong once more facts are available, but even that is often supported by opinions from some pretty well informed/educated people.
Take the interpersonal stuff out of the mix, and DU is a pretty handy resource if you are looking for information.

(43,833 posts)I can be as bad as anyone re not posting good links or (as I did here) posting without being able to quote exactly what was said, but I agree. DU is a better self-correcting source of info than a fair amount of media.

(12,065 posts)DU can not be considered a legit news source until Tucker blows a fuse on his Nazi show about how fake we are and left radicalized. Thats the ultimate stamp of approval. Nance is brilliant. Wish my Chief woulda been that great.

(11,665 posts)I was pretty happy to see DU get some credit -- I know a few radio hosts use DU for research.
I'm geeky about Nance too. He lives in the county where I grew up and my friends see him around town.

(43,833 posts)That he was reading a DU post this morning quoting the NYT as saying all those documents they absconded with was no big thing. It was in the context of his warning that Democrats have to take this shit seriously or well fall into fascism by just thatnot taking it seriously.
To be clear he was saying DU was sending out the same warning.

(1,884 posts)Malcolm Nance is guy with a brain that is a pleasure for us to listen to. Id be surprised if he didnt hang out on here. Like us, Im sure he wants to spend time around us to clear his head from the MAGA morons and the rest of the all about them and fuck everyone else republican party. Yes there are some moderate republican party members who have a heart, but they are not in the majority by far

(114,085 posts)but it happened more often in the early days, back when the site was manageably small. I'm convinced a lot of media people come here for our take on news stories because training in bafflegab doesn't translate to critical thinking

Yeah, I would put money on it that DU is at minimum a trial balloon resource for both sides at least.
