What exactly can our Justice Department do to protect voting rights?

I think that agency is about all that's left for US.

That's very good news! Hope the MSM starts covering some of these law suits. (I know) MoonRiver Jan 2022 #6

Laws, the Constitution and the Courts...

As an entity, the DoJ doesn't "create Justice", it enforces Laws under the watchful eye of the Courts who have their eyes on the Constitution.

Or at least that's how it's SUPPOSED to work.

I think this is especially true regarding minorities.

I’m genuinely asking, I’ve only ever voted in Florida, even when I was working in California a few years. It seems easier here than ever, state law allows 7-13 days of early voting (up to the county supervisor of elections to set the exact number but the minimum is 7). We also have mail-in voting available to all registered voters who want to request a mail-in ballot.

I haven’t voted at my precinct on Election Day in years, it’s great. The last time I remember standing in a line to wait to vote on Election Day was in 2004.

I voted after work, in person until 2020 when I went absentee. I never waited more than twenty minutes. However, I'm white and live in an affluent district (in a tiny house).

Now be a person who lives in a county on 7700, with a single polling place. Which evening after work will you stand in line hoping to get in before the polls close?

The Republican legislatures are responding to voter turnout by limiting places where people not like them can actually turn out to vote.

McConnell said the quiet part out loud: "African Americans are voting in the same percentages as Americans." They're just not voting for republicans or their fascist plutocracy.

There are dozens of legal challenges being brought against the states that have passed illegal and unconstitutional laws regarding voting- 7 suits against the laws in GA alone. It’s not a slam dunk, but much of the most egregious parts will not stand.

Several of these suits are set to be heard the first part of this year.

The gqp isn’t going to get away with all of the nonsense they have spit on the American voter!
