We get so many categorical slams against religion here in General Discussion, that I thought I'd share this.

1. Ty, this sounds interesting, and promising...

Since formal religion is still a part of many people's lives this is a good way to add a more ecological balanced POV within the Church's functioning.

I left my religion (Ukrainian Catholic) a looong time ago, thought I might become Christian but didn't, almost became agnostic, basically have called myself Spiritual with some Animistic, and a touch of Wiccan outlook for a long time.

As a feminist I rejected the "women can't be priests" attitude looong ago. The first time I saw Women Ministers at a (seriousy ecumenical) St John the Divine Cathedral's Blessing of the Animals Mass my jaw dropped. A thrill practically ran through me.

I seriously believe in the Separation of Church, and State - no theocratic state of any religion for me!

I also really appreciate seriously Ecumenical
people, and easy-going aetheists.

Mathew Fox who was a Dominican Catholic Priest who practiced Creation Spirituality and concentrated on Original Blessings vs Original Sin was eventually kicked out of the order by Cardinal Ratzinger (later Pope Benedict XVI), he eventually became an Episcopalian priest. He's written a lot of books, and teaches.

7. Yeah, he's 80 now. Saw him speak around ?40 yrs ago at a Unitarian Universalist Church 👍

4. No offense, but Ukrainian Catholics ARE Christian.

8. Many varieties of Catholic churches. Ukrainian is one.

Polish National Catholic Church (based in the U.S.) has a parish in our area. Seems to be thriving, but the church itself is very small, only about 26,000 members.

6. Sixty-six percent of the RCC is in the Third World.

Third world countries are experiencing climate change in real time. Of course, Francis is about turning back climate change. It's affecting his people.
