When did the "Big Lie" become the official strategy for the Republican Party?

In my opinion, it began when Kevin McCarthy made his sojourn down to Mar-a-Lago, about a week after the attack upon our Capitol. When he returned, he had completely changed his tune from a week earlier. He no longer wanted to talk about how he pleaded with Donald Trump for help as the entire House was being hunted down, as the Capitol police were being assaulted. From that moment forward, he did not want to talk about it and he did not want anyone in his caucus to talk about it.

In my opinion, Trump requested that McCarthy come down to Mar-a-Lago. He wanted to discuss what the message should be going forward. The one issue that he believed was verboten for the Party was any talk about an insurrection or attack upon our Capitol. That was an issue they could not win.

They could spin and survive the Big Lie but they could not spin the attack upon our democracy.

The Republicans in the House, except for a couple of exceptions, bought into the new strategy, hook, line, and sinker.

Liz Cheney would not shut up about the attack upon our Capitol and thought there should be a Commission to determine all the facts. In my opinion, that is why they are going to vote her out of the gang this Wednesday.

The big mistake was made when McCarthy made the trip to Mar-a-Lago.

But, you notice, he does not try to spin the attack upon our Capitol. They must be viewed thru separate lenses.

People have allowed him to set the narrative. To do that he has two go to strategies: he deflects and he smears. In fact he is "King Smear" a Shakespearean tragic character with only those two tools at his disposal (plus a willingness to do what ever it takes to get what he wants). As he schemes his way forward others either jump on his coat tails or play him like a fiddle. If only Shakespeare were here to give us some clever language that would eloquently, but succinctly expose the little man we know him to be. The clever quip that would stick and smear the man we have come to know as King Smear - The Hippo

It goes back to Joe McCarthy. It goes back to the days of Al Smith. It goes back to Calvin Coolidge, Warren Harding. It has been progressing to this day since its beginning in 1860. It is practiced in the art of deception.

They have been spinning and lying at least since they went along with Nixon and his lies about getting us out of Vietnam, and whatever other lies he told to get people to vote for him. It's all the same lying and race-baiting it has been for the past 50 years, at least. "The Big Lie" is really no different than what they've been doing all along.

When they portrayed the "pro-business", ok-with-the-death-penalty centrist governor of a "right to work" state as draft-dogin' dope-smokin' citizenship-renouncin' radical leftist Hippy Bill with his wife Harpy From Hell Hillary.

Otherwise you'll have to specify which Big Lie.
