Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell on Monday night signaled he would step back from an ultimatum over Senate rules that sparked a partisan showdown, which threatened to obstruct President Bidens early legislative agenda.
McConnell (R-Ky.) said in a statement that he was ready to move forward with a power-sharing accord with Democrats on how to operate the evenly divided Senate, defusing a potentially explosive clash over the minoritys rights to block partisan legislation.
McConnell on Monday said he was prepared to move forward on a deal modeled on that [2001] precedent after two Democratic senators Joe Manchin III (W.Va.) and Kyrsten Sinema (Ariz.) publicly reiterated their previously stated opposition to eliminating the filibuster.

...like Mittens, Murkowski, etc., told him they wouldn't support filibustering this and, if McConnell persisted in this course, they would vote with the Democrats to make the Organizing Resolution "privileged" (i.e. couldn't be filibustered). It would only take a couple of Republican defectors to cancel out Manchin and Sinema.

McConnell didnt drop his demand
Manchin still is against getting rid of the filibuster as I understand it, but said if McConnell didnt stop blocking the power sharing he would he would vote for the nuclear option
