Watch this and read the lyrics while thinking about this being played just before it all went down. I suspect it was played for Trump's benefit/ridicule, but it might have been a warning. It is doubly ironic since Kimberly danced to it. Kimberly sad, creepy thing, was perhaps an even more precise fit than Trump.

They played "Gloria" for the second time right before Trump was introduced, when they played "Proud to Be An American."

(34,006 posts)I think Jr and Kimberly just like the song.
I personally like the song, but I can't picture playing it at a rally for deluded loser.
"Voices in your head".....

(9,116 posts)I guess it makes sense, in a pathetic "High School was the best years of my life" kind of way.

(4,539 posts)The song "Gloria" was originally recorded by a European singer in 1979 and was covered many times by other European artists over the following two years. Laura Branigan had a hit with in 1982. She enjoyed success for ten years until she put her career on hiatus to care for her terminally ill husband. After her husband passed away, she gradually resumed her career. She passed away unexpectedly of a brain aneurysm in 2004. In the 2018-2019 NHL season, the Saint Louis Blues hockey team turned their season around (coincidentally or not) when the team informally adopted Laura Branigan's cover of "Gloria" as its anthem. That season, the team won its first-ever Stanley Cup.
