He does what his boss pays him to do, and it's not journalism.

It's frustrating to watch a right-wing guest on Chuck Todd's show say things that Todd clearly must know are false, yet all he does is smile and say "thanks for coming on."

4. The concept of "live news interviews" is an anachronism, something left over from the days when

politicians still exhibited a semblance of shame when caught in a lie. Allowing propagandists to use the media to spread their bullshit in real time - particularly when certain media hosts (like Todd) are too naive, or stupid, to counter these lies with actual facts - is no longer workable.

Mark Twain observed: “A lie can travel around the world and back again while the truth is lacing up its boots.” It's pointless for naive hacks like Todd to "lace up their boots" and fight these lies long after propagandists have uttered them, taking full advantage of the immediacy of live news broadcasts.

I suggest putting all such propagandists' interviews on a tape delay. Parse their outrageous statements and counter lies with facts, then air these segments, with adequate commentary, a few minutes later. Pause the taped interview in mid-sentence, warn the viewer that what follows is a lie, then perhaps the whole process willbecome more fair and balanced.

Excerpt...

It’s not naive of him. It’s malpractice. Chuck Todd’s entire brand is based on the claim that he understands politics. Since 2007 he has been NBC’s political director, which means he has influence over all coverage. He is literally the in-house expert on the subject. You don’t get to claim you are naive about politics when you have these kinds of positions. It would be like a chief risk officer saying, “I didn’t understand the gamble we were taking.” Well, that’s your job.
