(52,702 posts)A commercial roofing type, APP (atactic polypropylene) is applied by heating the membrane with a propane torch then immediately rolling the membrane onto the roof. A roofer's torch comes attached to a card that says "also good for clearing driveways of snow" on it.
You will also need a 20-pound gas grill-style propane tank. These torches use a shitload of fuel.

(11,372 posts)I think that might be one of the Elon Musk ones.

(52,702 posts)Next strange question: how does a flamethrower fit in with the carbon-displaced future Elon Musk is promoting? Something tells me he isn't running it on hydrazine.

(11,372 posts)Whatever he's running on it's rotting his brain.

(5,646 posts)My wife got tired of pulling weeds from a graveled patio, and went to Home Depot to buy a flamethrower.
The first guy laughed at her request, but asked his superior "Hey, Bob, do we have flamethrowers?"
Bob said "Aisle 12."

(16,447 posts)Sometimes with the same howls of joy! I corrected the BTU value. My torch is 500,000 BTUs.

(16,447 posts)I mainly use it to start the fire pit or to dispose of yard waste in the fire pit. I'm usually disposing of green wood or green yard waste, so a little inferno action gets it cooking quite nicely without liquid petroleum products. New England has wicked low PH soil, roughly 5.5, so the ash is useful to increase PH in the garden.

(18,272 posts)It's when the snowplows come through and put all the snow into your driveway apron. And then it freezes into a giant ice wall.
The older I get, the more I hate Wisconsin winters!
