infectious disease is probably the best case for this kind of "socialism".

even from a completely selfish and egoistic perspective, i personally benefit from everyone else getting vaccinated.

i'm basically trapped in my house now until the virus is under control, and getting *other people* vaccinated is a huge part of achieving that, thereby reopening the whole world for me.

it's not like feeding the hungry, which requires some minimal sense of humanity to approve of. vaccinating people during a pandemic should get the support even from completely selfish people. but of course, republicans will find a way to object to this sort of thing here in america....

.
.

Our Universal Health Care includes subsidized prescription meds - $2 a script, no matter the total cost for those below the poverty line - covers pretty much most pensioners, those on public assistance like Mother's Allowance or Welfare, even the homeless/jobless.

Yup - our stats indicate we have about 1/3 the deaths the USA has (per capita), - but we were still slow outta the gate, and fairly high globally.

We still have too many ignoring the mask, distancing and other recommendations in my wee town - I fear we are gonna get hit bad when it gets here, and it will . . . I suspect it's lurking already
