Chicago and Illinois Got an "A" in Social Distancing!

Both Cook County and Illinois overall get an A grade in social distancing during the coronavirus outbreak, according to a new scorecard using GPS data to rate counties and states on their efforts to stop the spread of the pandemic.

The grades came from the "Social Distancing Scoreboard" put out by a company called Unacast. The company's data scientists used GPS data to track the change in distance traveled across the country since days before the coronavirus pandemic to determine how areas were doing at social distancing.

A decrease in distance traveled of 40% or more earned an A, between 30% and 40% a B, and so on through F, which was a less than 10% change.

The 5pm newscast showed the lakefront parks full of people not really practicing 'social distancing' to the point that there were soccer games, basketball, etc.

She was really upset and I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't order the parks closed going forward.

A lot of people are still not taking this seriously. It's a sad situation.

I have been off work since March 9th, my husband has worked from home since the 13th. Most neighbors are home. Today was nice so quite a few were out but stayed in their own yards with their own families.
I have left our property four times...to pay my water bill, to grocery shop/pic up an Rx, to vote, to bag items for distribution at a food pantry.
I live in suburban Cook County.

Mayor Lightfoot today made mention of still how many people coming up to the parks and lakefront
& they all say Well, I’m just going out by myself to take a walk but then they’re all heading to the same location like the parks and playground
So still always room for improvement.

Some of my favorite bike routes are much more pleasant. There are some that I used to avoid during the week due to commercial truck traffic. With no one even in sight, I can shoot snot rockets onto the asphalt with no guilt.
